Andrew Scheer CPC MP from, Regina – Qu’Appelle Sask, has been elected speaker of the House he is the youngest speaker ever elected and I think he was in a few of my classes at the university of Ottawa (we were in the same program at the same time so it is inevitable).
Not a bad choice for several reasons
1. He is a details person
2. He studied history so knows the process
3. He can do no Harm as speaker
Why the last one? As a vocal advocate against samesex marriages and a supporter of the prolife movement he won’t be able to voice these opinions in the house.
I am worried though that his strong pro-Catholic stance will stop him from ruling on issues arrising from the seperatoon of church and state in a fair manner.
