Capital Taxi in Ottawa has a driver that refused to pick up Disabled persons, recently refusing a ride to a blind man from Orleans please see his story attached.
Although Capital has begun a diciplinary process the driver is still working for them.
I understand that there are rules to dismissing workers but there should be exceptions. The Driver obviously has issues with the disabled and no amount of discipline will likely change him. Do you want such a person driving you if you are disabled he obviously does not have compassion or respect for others.
The Company President Hanif Patni said: “We are going to make sure that this driver knows just how much he’s compromised our entire reputation.” Not good enough ! I’m sorry but given the quality of Cabbies in this city if one actually falls below the substandard alread established I think he needs to be dismissed.
