The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio has requested state records, seeking, among other things, the names of the volunteer medics and guards who oversee lethal injections at executions. The request has drawn Ohio into a debate over whether executioners’ identities should be kept secret.
I am %100 against the death penalty because I do not think we are at the point were it is possible to ever determine beyond all doubt, whether a person is guilty. I also think that God alone should decide who dies and when. That said, If the death penalty is sanctioned if we like it or not, we need to protect those that we designate to preform such a vile job.
To open them up to pressure ridicule or even hatred is tantamount to blaming them for the act we are instructing them to do. It would be like sending a soldier out to kill and letting him take the blame for the war.
