All too often we find ourselves apathetic about the way society is going. We feel that no matter how much we rant and how much we complain, it will not make one iota of a difference. The truth is that if we cease to rant or complain if we let the powers that be make decisions for us then we are guilty of creating the society that exists. The old saying that “the world is run by those that show up” is so very true. The problem is I’m not sure I like those that have shown up.

If we want to make sure that those that are in power over us make the decisions we want, we must first open our mouths. We may be ignored but we can’t be unheard. Which sounds like a total waste of time but sometimes the best way to shut someone up is to give them at least partially what they want.

There is truth in the phrase “The squeaky wheel gets the grease” if the person with the grease actually hears the squeaking.

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.
