(-30-) = (-FORESKIN-)
I was checking the blog stats and I noticed there was a huge spike on Oct 14th readership almost quadrupled. The problem is I couldn’t for the life of me remember what I wrote that might have drawn so much attention. My first thought was it was election night but I didn’t publish the results before the 15th so that wasn’t it, then I thought it was anticipation of a response by readers, but that wouldn’t explain the numbers of NEW readers. I know I have a real limited readership but I am not concerned, as I have pointed out before I Blog just for fun. So new readers would have to come in for a reason outside of anticipation of my wit and wisdom, which is limited now days as I have been somewhat ill of late. It is hard to be witty when you feel like heaving.
Then it dawned on me. I did publish on the 14th I had an article on the sale of artificial foreskins (cross posted from Jacks Blog) which I removed because a reader thought I was mocking him (which was partially true). I try to be accommodating even when I am forced to laugh. So although as I pointed out that I am not highly concerned about readership, it is nice to see people at least passing through. So I think in much the way journalists used to close article copy with the “-30-” marker I have found a new traffic grabbing article closer.
- FORESKIN -

Just checked the stats an what do you know they are up. Throw in the sex or genital factor and it brings them up. Sort of like Blog viagra.
This kind of spike in hits is kind of weird, isn’t it? A couple of weeks ago I had a few days when I went from complete obscurity at pretepress.wordpress.com to pulling in such huge numbers that I was in WordPress’ top 100 posts of the day for a couple of days. The reason? I posted a tiny little photo of some fish stuck in a chain-link fence after floodwaters from Hurricane Ike receded. I’m still getting a couple of hits a day from people searching for that photo. Your traffic-spiker is likely to be longer-lived and more universal than mine, though. By the way: 1) I agree about McCain’s speech, and 2) in “Who’s horse is higher?” it’s actually “whose” (I’m an editor — I can’t help it).
Good comment Tom
As for the gramatical error I tend to make those, I have a sort of mental hiccup that does that. If you keep looking you will find many more.
I am on the board of the Learning Disabilities Association of Ottawa Carleton, for obvious reasons.
One of these days I am going to have to Blog on LD’s or add it to the side bar as a note so people aren’t surprised by the occassional Who’s Whose Then Than inversion, or the Freinds Friends letter inversions as well.
I absorb things well but regurgitating them is not always easy thank God for spelling and grammar check devices (but WordPress doesn’t have these on an as you type basis).
